Brazzaville → Algiers
Four thousand seven hundred kilometres, forty-one degrees of latitude and the Sahara in between. This axis is not a metaphor: it is the journey that explains the rest.
African technology media clusters around four cities: Lagos, Nairobi, Dakar, Abidjan. The axis linking Central Africa to North Africa remains empty. I do not occupy it by strategy: I occupy it because that is where I live.
Brazzaville and Algiers share neither the same vehicular language, nor the same Arabic, nor the same French. When I say the language barrier slows intra-African exchange, I am not citing a study: I am describing daily life.
What I do follows from that position. Each week I interview the people building the continent’s digital infrastructure, which gives me a panoramic view few founders have. That view surfaced a recurring problem. My training lets me build the answer rather than comment on it.
