One country a week
Thirty-six episodes, thirty-two countries. Each week, an interview with someone building in that country, a three-voice debate, and five things looked at closely. Broadcast on Wednesdays on Ifrikya FM. First country on 9 September 2026.
What changes this season
What changes
Until now, AfricaTech followed the news. One topic, one week, and the next started from scratch. From September, the news becomes the doorway into a country, not the subject of the episode. Each week, the same exercise on a different country, with the same format, from the first to the last episode of the season.

The five things we watch
Five axes, five views
The foundation
Cables and landings, exchange points, data centres, the energy feeding them, network coverage.
The rule
Data law, regulatory authority, national strategy, decisions actually published.
The people
Engineers trained locally, training pipelines, research, departures and returns.
The money
Local funding, payments, digital taxation, value that stays in the country.
The use
Real uses, languages of access to services, gap between the capital and the rest of the country.
Four words, and no others
The states
We do not give a mark. No country receives a figure, a total, an average or a rank. Each axis receives a state, at a date, and nothing more.
Absent
Nothing documented, or a text exists but no application is observed.
Announced
Decided, funded or inaugurated, but nothing is in service at the date of broadcast.
In service
It works, and control lies elsewhere: operations, funding, expertise or hosting outside the country.
Held locally
It works, and control is in the country.
When other countries come to connect to what a country has built, we say so. This is not a fifth state, and it adds to nothing.
What we do not do
Six commitments

No figure attached to a country: no mark, no total, no average, no ranking.

Never the whole country. We say the rule is announced, never this country is average.

No country-to-country comparison. We compare states, not countries.

No map of the continent. Cards and a table, sorted by order of broadcast.

An announcement is not an activation. We count what works.

No payment, no quid pro quo, no communication to qualify an axis.
The programme
Four blocks, thirty-two countries
Each block groups eight countries that share a common situation. The ninth episode of each block is a synthesis review. Thirty-six episodes in total.
Block 1 · The pillars
E01 à E09The countries whose infrastructure, regulation or market already serve as a reference for the rest of the continent. What they decide is found elsewhere.
Block 2 · The corridors
E10 à E18The countries through which what others consume passes. Landings, transit, regional platforms. Their sovereignty is that of a waypoint.
Block 3 · Under constraint
E19 à E27The countries where digital technology is built with a permanent limiting factor — energy, security, landlocked status or funding. Constraint is part of the subject, not an excuse for it.
Block 4 · The bets
E28 à E36The countries that have made an explicit, committed choice, and whose outcome is still unknown.

The tracker
After each broadcast, the country card is placed here: five axes, five states, five dated sources. The table is sorted by order of broadcast. It is never sorted by state.

You are building in one of these countries, or you know the right person. Write to me — each episode's interview is prepared six weeks in advance.

You think a state is wrong. Send the proof: a published decision, a report, a contract, a documented activation. If the proof warrants it, the state is revised, the correction is dated online and stated on air.

You want the full methodology. It is published before the first episode, and it does not change during the season.
